I’ve got a couple of recipes that I want to try which require bananas… but this recipe is just so yummy that I never get around to trying them! Serves about 10 people – cut off a slice and heat up in the microwave or toaster (if it’s firm enough) if you’re not eating it straight out of the oven.

If your preferred chocolate cookie is crunchy rather than chewy, this is the recipe for you! Given to me by the lovely Michelle, whom I met at a dress-making class, these are very yummy. Her recipe calls for nuts, and generally bigger cookies, which just proves that the quantities specified are always a bit of a fabrication. Along with fudgy chocolate cake, another one to possibly avoid until after Lent’s over; think these took my tally of making-people-break-their-Lenten-sacrifice to 4 (not sure whether to feel bad or proud for that…)

If you want a rich, dark, slightly gooey fudgy chocolate cake, this is the one for you. Small point to note… maybe best to serve *after* Lent is over, as otherwise anyone who’s avoiding chocolate until Easter may find it impossible to resist. It’s quite an odd recipe in that it’s really, really liquid up to the point of putting it in the oven, but don’t worry – that’s meant to happen.

Having divided my afternoon yesterday between making some delicious chocolate cake and sorting out my flatmate’s computer, I thought I’d post a quick plan for helping with the latter, as I’d talked about the former. A mashup of a few recipes floating around the interwebs, using both golden syrup and treacle. Can be chewy or crispy depending on how thin you roll the dough out. Always a bit of an effort to do, but can be fun to decorate with friends, and if well-decorated go down a treat at bake sales etc.
