Treacle Round

Quite gingerbread-esque. My granny’s recipe… serve warm, and, optionally, buttered.

2 tblspns treacle
55g butter
55g sugar (brown)
225g plain flour
2 rounded tsps baking powder
1 cup milk

  1. Melt butter with sugar and treacle
  2. Pour into flour and stir until dissolved
  3. Add milk to baking powder and stir into mixture, beating out any lumps
  4. Bake in 2 greased sandwich tins at Gas Mark 2 / 150oC for 20 minutes
  5. Cool on wire racks
